"Bigueรฑos love cultural events a lot because we also love our cultural heritage double fold."
[VIGAN, ILOCOS SUR, PHILIPPINES] ► Santa Cruzan in Vigan is part of its annual Viva Vigan Binatbatan Festival of the Arts.
On the 4th of May this 2016, I went to Calle Crisologo to document the Vigan Santa Cruzan. Employees of the Vigan LGU and the different sects and organizations of the city were the queens and escorts. Dressed with terno made of inabel fabric and barong Tagalog, they paraded along Vigan's traditional parade route.
I waited for them at the north end of Calle Crisologo. They ended in ▼ PLAZA BURGOS

. Without too much talking, here are some photos I took during the Santa Cruzan 2016 in Vigan.

I was all alone in my position when I was waiting for them. While waiting, I was eating halo-halo I bought from Mang Inasal nearby.
After about 30 minutes, I heard a short-lived wang-wang sound. I was pretty sure they're coming. When they are already near me, the place where I waited was still devoid of crowd. In usual Vigan festivals, a struggle for space is common but this Santa Cruzan wasn't a crowd drawer. I suddenly thought that most of the people of Vigan isn't interested in watching this maybe because it's quite boring (they say, not me) unless the queens are celebrities or well-loved popular personalities.
Anyway, this is an important part of Vigan's beautiful culture. In every cultural event we do in Vigan that is also done in other places, we Bigueรฑos will always make it sure that there should always be an Ilocano version of these activities. Bigueรฑos love cultural events a lot because we also love our cultural heritage double fold. | end |

[4] The insights, condition and name of places or properties I mentioned here are based on the facts and situation on the day of my visit. Take note that you may have a different experience when you experience or see Vigan Santa Cruzan. Names of places and properties may also change by time so it's not my responsibility to update all the information on this blog because once published, I already consider it an archive and I won't update my narratives because I want them to become references of what have happened in the past. I'm very particular of the dates because I want my amazing readers to understand that I am writing stories based on my perspective and insights on the day of my visit. You can see dates almost everywhere on this blog. Exempted from this rule are my travel guide posts that need to be updated.
