🇲🇾 KUALA LUMPUR • Irsia BnB: Review of My First Accommodation Outside PH

[KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA] ► Irsia BnB is the first ever accommodation where I stayed outside PH. As a person with obsessive-compulsive trait (no, this isn't a disorder, just a trait) about everything I do and experience for the first time, I'm self-obliged to write a story about this hostel in Kuala Lumpur.

This hostel was where I stayed overnight in Kuala Lumpur. I checked Google maps and this was one of the closest accommodations to the monorail station, particularly Imbi station. I had this expectation that it would be easy to find this hostel from there.

Aside from the fact that it was close to the Imbi monorail station, it was also the cheapest available accommodation in Kuala Lumpur when I booked a room here using a hotel booking website.

TEASER ▬ This street was where I ended my first day in Malaysia but it served as the rendezvous of my many first-time experiences and encounters so it meant so much for me.

, a street that is not so crowded and not traffic-infested. Near this hostel are cheap restaurants and eateries offering authentic Malaysian food.

The hostel staff was composed of males (most, if not all). The receptionist could speak and understand English. If you have questions, just ask him because some of the boys can't communicate in English well.

You have to pay an extra ringgit if you wish to use a towel from them just in case you didn't bring one.

I stayed in a dormitory-type room with bunk beds. There were other guests when I entered the room. They were all white travelers. I was the only Asian inside our room. 

The room was air-conditioned with common bathroom. There were also available lockers inside but bring your own lock. The hostel had WiFi but you have to go to the ground floor to access the internet. The signal upstairs was poor.

They also sell hard drinks and other beverages if you wish to chill or you're just thirsty. However, you can get a drinking water for free.

I'm not actually choosy in terms of accommodation. As long as the place is safe, there is a clean toilet, a bathroom and comfortable beds, it's already enough for me. Whenever I do backpacking, I don't want to spend much of my travel funds on accommodations. Actually, I have more budget for food than accommodation because I'm not gonna stay there the whole day. All that I need is a place to sleep and a restroom.

Anyway, Irsia BnB also has free breakfast. If you're a Filipino reading this post right now, don't expect them to serve the typical Filipino heavy breakfast meal with soup and rice. ▼ MALAYSIA

is different from our local set-up. When they say breakfast, it's bread, particularly, sliced bread as we call it in the ▼ PHILIPPINES

. There's also a free coffee but the coffee (including the breakfast) is served only until 10:00 AM (as far as I remember).

The boys (staff) were all serious. I've wanted a jolly, light and pleasant vibe but they remained serious to the point that I even thought they didn't like me to check-in.

I was immediately asked to pay when I checked-in. Because I only had 50 ringgit notes that time, they allowed me to pay the next day because they didn't have change.

As a conclusion. It's a good place to stay for the price I paid but how I wish the boys showed a warm atmosphere with smile on their faces.

I recommend this place though for its cheap price and convenient location. Room rate starts at 23 RM (~240 PhP).| end |
